Service Description

Bladesmithing One - Stock removal - Chip Carving Knife No Experience necessary  This will get you started on your knife-making journey in the most efficient way possible!  Our expert knifemaking instructor and 40+ year professional Bladesmith, Steve Rollert, will guide you through making a small carving knife via Stock Removal (aka grinding). This will help you avoid a plethora of pitfalls and misinformation in your home practice, and will show you how to get started at home with the smallest amount of equipment! This class is designed to familiarize the student with the types of steels most successfully used in forged knives, the tools and techniques of grinding, and the heat treating of a Chip Carving knife. Three different heat-treating techniques will be demonstrated with the student being allowed to choose which one they prefer to use on the blade the student will make in the class.


Cancellation Policy

You can cancel a class at least a week in advance and use the full deposit towards any other class for up to 1 year. Complete cancelation results in $50 fee No-shows and last-minute cancelations (6 days before or less) forfeit the entire deposit. We reserve the right to cancel classes with low enrollment (less than 3). The warning will be given a week in advance.
